There’s so much to remember on your wedding day and so it’s no surprise that occasionally things are forgotten, but for one groom this was devastating mistake. Claret Catering were luckily able to come to the rescue!

As a serving member of HM Royal Marine Commandos, the groom was inviting many of his naval and Royal Marine colleagues to attend his wedding and reception.

He was stationed in Devon, the wedding was in Dorset and during the set up time he realised that he had forgotten to bring his regimental flag, which he planned to display, proudly, behind the bar for the evening reception.

Dawn is from a military family and understood how important this was to the groom and so set about finding a flag come what may!

She telephoned every surplus store in the region but to no avail, eventually Dawn took herself off to the Royal Marine base in Poole and waited outside until she was able to speak to someone. Luckily, she met a very kind soul who understood the predicament completely and handed over a flag to Dawn with a promise from her that she would return it the next day!

The groom was completely unaware of any of Dawn’s covert operations, but his face was a picture when during the evening reception the flag was unfurled to rapturous applause and cheers from his fellow colleagues and family.

Our groom had this to say, “Claret Catering have been amazing today. They have gone above and beyond for me as a Royal Marine. The day has been better than anything we could have imagined. Those special little touches for the day that we couldn’t have asked for. You have made it a special day that we will remember for the rest of our lives”
